Warwick traffic cameras generated nearly $659K in revenue last year

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — The city of Warwick raked in nearly $659,000 from its traffic enforcement cameras in their first year, 12 News has learned.

The city installed 37 school-zone and red-light cameras last year. Each camera had a 30-day grace period from its installation date, during which warnings were issued to drivers instead of fines.

The grace periods for the 23 school-zone cameras and 14 red-light cameras ended between June 9 and Oct. 30, depending on when each device was installed, according to data provided by Warwick Police Department…
