Gigantic snow teddy bear stops traffic in Woonsocket

WOONSOCKET — David Gladu paces around mounds of snow shaped into a teddy bear, armed with a spray bottle full of brown food coloring. “Gotta make sure it keeps looking good,” he says, as he sprays its snowy thigh.

Gladu owns Gladu Disposal and Self Storage on 165 Poplar St. and is a third generation business owner. The house he lives in now is two streets over from the house he grew up in. “My business is in its fourth generation. We’ve been in this business for 86 years, it was my grandfather’s business and now my niece just started working there; we’re about to hit 100 years.”
