EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Lillian “Chris” Nauta loves Gregg’s Lemon Burst Cake, which is why it came to no one’s surprise that she was thrilled to have a slice at her 105th birthday party Friday.
“This is a big treat,” the native Rhode Islander said with a smile. “It’s my favorite.”
Nauta, who was born on March 5, 1921, joined the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps at the start of World War II. She was 18 years old and had been training at St. Joseph’s Hospital at the time…
