World War II Navy nurse celebrates 105th birthday

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — World War II Navy nurse Lillian Nauta celebrated her 105th birthday on Friday.

U.S. Sen. Jack Reed teamed up with Anchor Bay and family members to celebrate her birthday and to highlight her service.

The event was held at noon at Anchor Bay in East Providence.

To thank Nauta for her actions to support the Navy during World War II, Sen. Reed announced his support for a legislation to bestow the Congressional Gold Medal to her and all U.S. military nurses during the war…
