Teacher’s assistant charged after cocaine found in Cranston elementary school bathroom

CRANSTON, R.I. (WJAR) — A teacher’s assistant was charged with misdemeanor cocaine possession after a plastic bag containing the drug was found in a bathroom at Chester W. Barrows Elementary School in Cranston.

Cranston police said detectives arrived at the school at 11 a.m. Thursday after a school nurse found a bag with white powder and a straw on the sink of the nurse’s bathroom.

The nurse said that three adults had used that bathroom that day, in addition to a kindergartner and a first grader. All of the adults, as well as both of the children, said that they had not noticed the bag while in the bathroom…
