Former CT cop who was ‘serial burglar’ faces at least 10 years in prison Thursday, prosecutor says

MIDDLETOWN — The former police officer who patrolled Glastonbury by day and broke into dozens of businesses by night is expected to be sentenced to at least 10 years in prison Thursday, a court official said.

Under a plea agreement, the full sentence for Patrick Hemingway is expected to be 20 years in prison, suspended after 12, followed by five years of probation, Middlesex State’s Attorney Michael Gailor said Wednesday.

Hemingway’s lawyer, public defender Richard Gudis, has the right to ask for a shorter sentence of 10 years behind bars, Gailor said. The 39-year-old also likely will be ordered to pay restitution to the businesses he broke into, most of which were restaurants, he said…
