Scituate 7th grader heading to national spelling bee a third time

LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) — The winner of the last two Rhode Island State Spelling Bees secured a three-peat Saturday and will represent her state on a national stage once more.

Scituate Middle School seventh grader Elliana Pagliarini won the statewide spelling bee held at Lincoln Middle School.

Pagliarini correctly spelled the word “rubbish,” which was from a list of words contestants didn’t study beforehand.

In May Pagliarini will participate in the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. During a past national spelling bee she made it to the quarter finals.
