Bally’s Twin River in Lincoln, Rhode Island opened with slots and gaming tables in 2013 (when it was simply known as Twin River Casino). Even before that, the site had a long history of games of chance, dating back to the 1940s. First the site hosted horse racing, then dog racing, then jai alai and off-track betting. A poker “room” (at that time a small space in the middle of the gaming area) was added in 2015. The room was cash only for over a decade (we first checked it out before we even started this site). In 2025 it added a few tournaments. That addition, along with a much expanded poker room, was our cue to take an official look at Bally’s Twin River.
Casino Setting
Bally’s Twin River is near Providence off Route 146 , about 15 minutes south of the Massachusetts line. There is not much of note in the immediate area around the casino, although there is some local shopping and dining. However, the casino is not far from Boston or Providence, and within a couple of hours of the beaches in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Cape Cod in Massachusetts.
Non-Poker Amenities
Bally’s Twin River is a full-service casino with slots, table games, and a sportsbook. The main floor allows smoking. However, there is a large non-smoking gaming area on the second floor where the poker room is housed.
As with so many modern casinos, the main floor consists of a large open room with dining options around the perimeter. The dining choices are fairly limited. There are 2 small food courts. One with a Nathan’s, Dunkin’ and Jacky’s Galaxy Express (Chinese). The other contains a Johnny Rockets, Subway, Sbarro, and, because this is New England, another Dunkin’! For non-fast food there is Fred and Steve’s Steakhouse (founded by two former Patriot players) and the Wicked Good Bar & Grill (because again, New England). There are also a few bars and pubs scattered throughout the venue.
There is a small event center that apparently does not attract the hottest new acts as upcoming shows include pre-Internet stars such as KC & The Sunshine Band, Billy Ocean, Queensrÿche, Night Ranger, and the 80’s greats Berlin & Flock of Seagulls.
Bally’s Twin River Poker Room Comfort
The 30-table Bally’s Twin River poker room is contained within the second-floor gaming area. While it is sectioned off and not too loud, it is fully open to the casino. A bar sits adjacent to the room and restrooms reside just outside the perimeter. Overall, for a room in the middle of a gaming floor the space was reasonably attractive and comfortable.
The tables seemed fairly new and clean; the purple felts were in excellent condition and the tables were reasonably well-spaced. There are padded rails, cupholders, USB chargers, and auto-shufflers. The chairs have wheels, are well-padded, and are comfortable…
