ATTLEBORO – The Attleboro Fire Department responded early Sunday morning to a fire involving a makeshift structure being used as a shelter.
According to the department, at approximately 3:30 a.m., crews were dispatched to the area of 10 Charles Street for a reported large brush fire in the woods. Upon arrival, firefighters found an approximately 20-by-40-foot structure located about 200 feet off the road, fully engulfed in flames, with fire reaching 30 feet into the air.
Multiple hoselines were deployed to prevent the fire from spreading into the surrounding woods and nearby homes. During firefighting operations, crews encountered multiple small explosions. It was later determined that the explosions were caused by fireworks being stored inside the structure…
