New Bedford man found guilty of raping teen family member ‘hundreds of times’

A 46-year-old man has been found guilty of charges in connection with sexually abusing a female relative for five years, beginning when the victim was 12, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.

On March 31, a Bristol County Superior Court jury convicted Daniel Turcios Torres — a Honduran national who was living in New Bedford illegally — on one count of aggravated child rape, child rape by force and witness intimidation, prosecutors said in a press release. He was also found guilty on three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and indecent assault and battery on a child over 14.

Authorities began investigating Turcios Torres in July 2024 when the then-17-year-old victim reported to New Bedford police that he had been sexually abusing her since she was 12, prosecutors said. The latest incident had happened the previous month…
