Seekonk’s Hidden Gem Supper Club

Tucked beneath the floorboards of the Old Grist Mill Tavern in Seekonk, there’s a hidden dining experience that feels like you’ve stumbled onto something special.

Welcome to the Millstone Supper Club, a thoughtfully curated, multi-course experience brought to life by owner Karl Pelletier and his team. From the moment you walk down into the tavern’s more intimate space, you realize this isn’t just dinner – it’s a culinary journey.

Admittedly, I went all in with the premium wine pairings for every course. If you’re going to do it, do it right, and the tone was set from the start. I was even given a key for the coat closet where my belongings were safely stored.

I was first greeted with a crisp Prosecco, garnished with a fresh slice of orange that added just the right touch of citrus brightness. Not long after, a warm chef’s board arrived with fresh bread and a creamy butter spread.

A Strong Start That Set the Tone

For my first course, I went with the diver scallop, and it did not disappoint.

The scallop was seared perfectly, tender with a delicate texture that melted with each bite. What stood out most was the subtle, buttery lemon-citrus finish from the mandarin beurre blanc (I was well-educated by the knowledgeable staff), which was fully absorbed into the fettuccine. It was light, balanced, and never overpowering. It was a great start to what was shaping up to be an exquisitely fine dining experience.

A Mid-Meal Reset Done Right

Before the main course, I was treated to a raspberry sorbet with a fresh shaving of lime.

It was bright, refreshing, and exactly what you want between courses. A true palate cleanser that reset everything before the main event.

The Main Event Delivers

For the entrée, I chose the chef’s special sea bass, paired with a premium white chardonnay.

The sea bass was light, fluffy, and incredibly refreshing. It didn’t try to do too much, and that’s what made it work so well. The chardonnay pairing elevated it even more, creating a smooth, delightful combination that brought everything together…
