EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) — The Second Avenue subway now has funding, heavy machinery, and personnel in place to extend the subway line uptown to East Harlem from the Upper East Side.
It’s what Gov. Kathy Hochul and other boldface-named elected officials announced on Monday.
They also said that the new expansion was a long time coming and would result in new subway service soon. Still, a variety of potential passengers expressed skepticism.

Monday’s announcement was at a construction site on Second Avenue between 119th and 120th Streets. Standing in the midst of heavy-duty drilling equipment on the site, Gov. Hochul declared from the podium, “We’re going to build an 8,400-foot-long tunnel right below here.”…
