Seven Long Island fire departments received over $1 million in state funding to improve facilities, response capabilities and emergency preparedness, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
The seven Long Island departments are among 65 departments across New York State that received roughly $25 million combined in state grants.
“Our volunteer firefighters answer the call day and night, keeping New York communities across the state safe,” Hochul said in a statement. “By investing an additional $25 million in V-FIRE grant funding for volunteer firefighters, we are ensuring our local heroes are equipped with modern facilities, advanced gear and tools they need to respond quickly and safely when they get the call.”…
