New Yorkers demand change as utility bills continue to rise

NEW YORK (PIX11) — New Yorkers fed up with sky-high utility bills are speaking out and demanding change, but Con Edison says some of the recent increases in energy costs are out of its control.

Ratepayers took part in what organizers called a “Utility Rip-Off” hearing at Herbert Von King Park in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Tuesday night.

Zach Jones attended the hearing and told PIX11 News he’s paying several hundred dollars a month to keep the lights on in his two-bedroom apartment.

“I’m just kind of pissed off that my bill never goes down,” Jones said. “It seems to always go up.”…
