Police Shoot, Kill Man Who Charged At Officers With Loaded Handgun On Long Island

MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. – A 19-year-old armed with multiple weapons, including a loaded handgun, was shot and killed by police in an apparent “suicide by cop” incident on Stone Boulevard late Friday night.

According to Nassau County Police, at around 8:30PM on Friday, a 911 call was placed reporting a suicidal man armed with weapons who was expressing suicidal thoughts and acting erratically.

When police officers from the 7th Precinct arrived on scene, they found 19-year-old David Clements standing in front of the house wielding three guns and threatening to kill himself while pointing a firearm at his head.

Officials say that the officers instructed him to drop the weapons before he ran into his house, quickly turned around and pointed a handgun with a bright flashlight attachment towards police and charged at them.
