Pickleball! Staten Island’s Wolfe’s Pond Park to Receive Three New Courts

Local officials revealed on Friday that Staten Island will soon receive extra public courts. At Wolfe’s Pond Park in Prince’s Bay, Councilman Joseph Borelli (R-South Shore), Borough President Vito Fossella (R-Staten Island), and NYC Parks Commissioner Lynda Ricciardone were present. They disclosed that the park is the upcoming facilities’ construction location.

Work on the courts is projected to begin in late 2026. The three new, lighted courts are estimated to be completed in late 2027.

“When it comes to space for pickleball, we have had a real dill-emma,” joked Borelli in a press release. “I am happy to have obtained funding for these three new courts that will help to relieve the pressure by providing scenic court space and new lighting that will be installed here to create more opportunities to play throughout the day.”

Borough President Vito Fossella commented, “As pickleball continues to grow in popularity, we will continue to identify locations for new courts,” said Fossella. “We thank Council Member Borelli for his efforts and desire to provide pickleball players more opportunities. These new courts and lighting will be good for players to enjoy the natural beauty of Wolfe’s Pond Park, overlooking the Raritan Bay — day or night.”
