Accused of burning a lady on a New York City subway, the man faces several murder charges

Multiple charges of murder and arson have been brought against Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, the man who is suspected of setting a lady on fire inside a Brooklyn subway train on Sunday.

After being charged with several murder charges, Zapeta-Calil gave up his right to appear in court on Friday.

Officials are currently examining security footage to identify the lady who died from burns, according to Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

Although her name is unknown, a vigil was held on Thursday in her honor.

DNA Testing

Although DNA testing was done, the victim has not yet been identified, according to law enforcement sources who spoke to FOX 5 NY. Authorities think she was homeless.

Zapeta-Calil is charged with first-degree murder, three charges of second-degree murder, and arson, according to DA Gonzalez.

He is expected to return to court on January 7, when the indictment is expected to be unsealed.
