Syracuse, N.Y. — A major winter storm will bear down on Upstate New York this weekend, bringing a potentially dangerous combination of snow, freezing rain and ice through Sunday night.
And that’s just the beginning: The effects of the storm will continue into early next week, with high winds, brutal wind chills and the potential for heavy lake effect snow through Tuesday. Roads could get treacherous, and the combination of ice and winds could cause scattered power outages.
“An impactful storm system will lumber its way from the southern plains to directly over us by daybreak Sunday,” the National Weather Service said.
