CITYWIDE — TRAFFIC IN MANHATTAN’S CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT has decreased by 11% and is moving up to 30% faster; three million fewer cars entered that part of Manhattan, and commuters are saving 21 minutes when entering the district, said Governor Kathy Hochul in a program highlighting the benefits of congestion pricing since the program began on Jan. 5. Hochul made the announcement the day after U.S. Department of Transportation head Sean Duffy, who is demanding the city end the tolling plan, extended the deadline it had set for New York City to do so.
