Ranger rescues NYC man who got lost twice in one day on Catskills mountain

A 61-year-old New York City man got lost twice while hiking alone in the eastern Catskill Mountains on April 17.

The hiker first reported being lost near the Mink Hollow Trail approach to Sugarloaf Mountain, a steep, rocky ascent leading to a 1,200 ft summit.

A New York State Department of Environmental Conservation dispatcher guided the man back to the trail via phone but remained concerned and relayed the hiker’s information to a forest ranger for follow up…
