Long Islanders to Receive Nearly $700M in Property Tax Relief

Homeowners across Long Island will soon see some financial relief, as New York prepares to send out $698.4 million in property tax rebates through the STAR program—benefiting more than 582,000 residents.

As part of a statewide $2.2 billion initiative, the relief comes in the form of either a property tax exemption or a mailed check for eligible homeowners. Most will receive between $350 and $600, while seniors in the Enhanced STAR program could see $700 to $1,500. Checks will begin arriving next week and continue through the fall.

“Summer is here — and it’s also the start of STAR tax relief season for millions of New Yorkers,” Hochul said. “From tax credits to child care assistance and much more, we’re continuing to put more money back in New Yorkers’ pockets.”…
