Severe storm risk plus extreme heat for much of New York & Pennsylvania this weekend & next week

Yesterday;s cold front has now passed offshore and we have a nice weather day ahead. Skies have cleared out for the most part and we should see partly to mostly sunny skies to finish of the week. Highs this aftewrnoon will be mostly in the mid to upper 80s but we are going to see humidity levels down today making things more comfortable. Local sea breezes will develop along coastal areas during the afternoon and evening hours and temperatures near the coast will likely be in the 70s. Tonight we will see nothing more than some passing clouds across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. Most lows will be in the low to middle 60s. Over the weekend we will be watching a strengthening ridge or high pressure area in the Deep South. This upper high will build and shift northward into the Central Appalachians and this forces the upper air flow from Canada to retreat back into Canada at least through the middle part of next week. This basically cuts off most moisture and it also causes the atmosphere to heat up.
