Life-threatening heat wave will blanket NY next week, Hochul and state officials warn

New York is bracing for a dangerous heat wave starting this weekend, and state officials are warning residents to stay inside as much as possible.

When combined with humidity, temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s and possibly low 100s Sunday throughout the state. These extreme temperatures will likely persist and could even reach 105-110 degrees in many parts of New York until dropping into the 80s Thursday.

“This is not your run-of-the-mill hot summer week,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said at a press conference Friday. “Given the cooler weather we’ve had lately, this is going to be a real shock to the system.”…
