Gov. Hochul unveils $347M anti-gun violence plan

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a new initiative to combat gun violence across the state, allocating nearly $350 million in new funding for prevention programs and tougher enforcement of existing gun laws on Monday.

The governor emphasized the importance of sustained investment in community safety.

“Part of it starts with the money,” Hochul said. “This is an area we have not invested enough in for many years. So collectively, with our legislators, $2.6 billion has been spent in the last four years with effective, proven crime-fighting strategies.”…
