More New Yorkers to start getting school tax relief checks from the state

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Waiting for the state’s school tax relief to appear in your bank account?

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Tuesday that the second phase of STAR tax relief is set to begin. Eligible homeowners and seniors who have school tax due dates in August, September and October will start getting paid in the next few weeks, officials said.

STAR credits range from $350 to $1,500. Homeowners can get between $350 and $600, while seniors can receive between $700 and $1,500.

In New York City, over 483,000 people are eligible to get a STAR credit. More than 582,000 Long Island residents also qualify for the relief…
