A rare conversation with New York state’s chief judge: Hon. Rowan Wilson speaks about life, the law and living in Brooklyn Heights

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — Hon. Rowan Wilson, chief judge of the New York Court of Appeals, is the presiding officer of the state’s highest court and also serves as the chief judge of New York State.

He oversees the administration of the entire Unified Court System, which includes more than 16,000 employees; manages the seven-judge Court of Appeals; and establishes statewide standards and administrative policies, among a myriad of other things.

However, with his down-to-earth, unpretentious demeanor and soft-spoken conversational tone, one might not guess that Wilson is indeed the highest-ranking judge in the New York State judiciary.
