NEW YORK (PIX11) — Two people are “fortunate to be alive” after being rescued from the Lower Bay with an assist from a good Samaritan, according to officials.
Both individuals were rescued by the Coast Guard, FDNY and NYPD Monday morning after being reported missing on a personal watercraft in the Lower Bay.

A friend of one of the riders said they hadn’t checked in since around 8 p.m. on Sunday near the Verrazano Bridge. The friend said the rider’s phone was going straight to voicemail and didn’t follow up to let him know he made it back to the marina as expected.
The Coast Guard sent out a search crew and issued an urgent marine information broadcast, as well as conducting a wellness check with the Elizabeth Police Department at the missing person’s home. The family confirmed that he had not returned from the outing, according to officials…
