N.Y. weather: Cool Labor Day weekend ahead with temperatures forecast to dip below normal

Staten Island residents can expect a cool and dry weekend with temperatures significantly lower than typical late August conditions, according to the National Weather Service. High temperatures will struggle to reach the 80-degree mark, staying in the upper 70s with clear skies and light northwest winds.

The weather service forecasts high temperatures around 78 to 80 degrees on Saturday and Sunday, approximately three to five degrees below normal seasonal temperatures. Overnight lows will drop dramatically, ranging from the upper 40s in cooler areas to the upper 50s and lower 60s in the New York City metro area. Residents should prepare for unusually chilly evening temperatures, with some areas experiencing lows nearly 10 degrees below normal.
