EAST RIVER — SEVEN PEOPLE WERE INJURED Sunday when two vessels collided on the East River, CBS News reported. Around 2 p.m., a private boat, identified as the “Let’s Live II,” struck the “Cabana” party boat carrying about 300 passengers near East 34th Street, according to the Coast Guard. Surveillance video obtained by CBS shows the vessel veering off course before impact.
The “Let’s Live II” left the scene but was later traced to its owner, who claimed the boat had been on autopilot. All injuries were minor. Federal authorities are leading the investigation.
