NEW YORK (WCBS) – A 15-year-old student with special needs was fatally struck by a car while walking along a New York parkway after leaving school by himself, according to his family.
New York State Police say 15-year-old Christopher Williams was hit by a car Thursday afternoon on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island. The teenager, who had special needs, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The accident happened about a half mile from The Martin De Porres School for Exceptional Children in Elmont, which Williams attended. The teen’s family says he was somehow left unsupervised before the accident.
“On what should have been a normal school day, our world was shattered forever. The school failed him, and now our family is left with an unimaginable loss. A bright light that is now lost forever,” wrote Williams’ brother in a text message…
