NEW YORK (PIX11) — The hopes of taking home a near-record Powerball jackpot may be over after winners from Missouri and Texas were announced on Sunday, but the residual effect on New York education will live on.
The $1.8 billion jackpot, accumulated since June 2, generated over $75 million for both New York public schools and small business lottery retailers from $154 million collected in ticket sales and commissions, according to the New York Gaming Association.
