Holtec eyes restarting another nuclear plant – this time in New York

Although the company has not made any major moves yet, Holtec International is eyeing the restart of the Indian Point Energy Center in New Jersey, a 2,000 MW nuclear plant that ceased operations in 2021 and is currently being decommissioned.

Holtec, which is also already in the final phase in the restart of its Palisades nuclear plant in Michigan, floated an estimated cost of $10 billion and a timeline of at least four years to restart the plant, POLITICO reports.

“I’m getting so many people asking me from New York if this is possible,” Holtec International President Kelly Trice told POLITICO. “The answer is yes.”…
