NYS Law Enforcers Call on Federal Government to Restore Homeland Security Cuts

ORISKANY, N.Y. — During the State’s largest counterterrorism preparedness drill of its kind in Oriskany today, law enforcement officials held a press conference to tell the people they protect that they are likely less safe due to recent federal cuts to New York’s counterterrorism budget.

$87 million dollars in August, according to officials. And just this past weekend, another bombshell.

“Over the weekend, the division received a form letter from the secretary indicating that an additional $100 million was being taken away from New York State’s counterterrorism efforts,” said Executive Deputy Commissioner Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Terence O’Leary…
