NY weather update: Part of New York under a wind advisory until Monday evening – gusts may reach 50 mph

On Sunday at 2:08 a.m. the National Weather Service released an updated wind advisory valid from noon until Monday 6 p.m. for Brooklyn and Queens as well as Suffolk and Nassau counties.

The weather service states, “Northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.”

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result,” comments the weather service. “Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects.”
