STATEWIDE — THREE NEW SUPPORTIVE HOUSING COMPLEXES WILL BE BUILT IN BROOKLYN to transition people out of homelessness, with a total of $125 million in grants across NY State that Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
New Destiny Housing Corp. will receive $12 million to build Atlantic Avenue West, a project for formerly homeless families, including survivors of domestic violence. When completed, the 14-story all-electric building, with a total of 162 units, will also include program offices, security desk, playroom, fitness room, and other amenities. CAMBA Housing Ventures, Inc. is receiving $12.5 million for persons over age 55 who have experienced homelessness or who have a family member in that situation. The 15-story building, named Kingsborough Seniors, will have several amenities, including a grandparents’ room for residents to host intergenerational gatherings. WellLife Network, Inc. is granted $15 million to develop 88 units of permanent supportive housing in Brooklyn for individuals and families who have experienced chronic homelessness or are living with mental illness.
