New report details rise in bullying, drug use statewide

A new report from the New York State Comptroller’s Office shows bullying and drug related incidents in schools are on the rise.

The report says seriously violent incidents have largely disappeared since the pandemic and the return to in person learning, but the decline is largely due to changes in school reporting rules.

Bullying accounted for nearly 62 percent of all reported incidents in the 2023–2024 school year — about 12 and a half incidents per one thousand students…
