New York City, New York — Just as millions across the Northeast begin digging out from a historic winter storm, another surge of bitter cold and strong winds is set to grip the region this weekend, compounding fatigue from days of snow, ice, power outages, and travel disruptions.
Forecasters warn that while the worst of the recent coast-to-coast storm has moved offshore, the broader winter pattern remains locked in place. The result: falling temperatures, biting wind chills, and lingering hazards across much of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
Historic storm still shaping conditions
The renewed cold comes on the heels of a massive winter storm that stretched more than 2,300 miles, impacting over 240 million people across more than 40 states from the Southwest to New England.
