New York Attorney General Letitia James is coming to the defense of New York City’s sanctuary city laws. James has filed a friend of the court brief in the 2025 Justice department lawsuit challenging the laws. She argues that the laws enhance public safety and that they do not prevent local and federal law enforcement from working together on criminal investigations.
