Massive stolen car ring that spread across New Jersey and New York has been taken down, officials say

Five people have been accused of participating in a stolen car ring in New York and New Jersey, stealing more than 40 cars and reselling them through a vast network, officials from the New York State Attorney General’s office said Wednesday.

Jonathan Mercedes Silvestre, Raulin Rodriguez, Jender Santos-Ulloa, Dehesus Gonzalez and Juan Tavarez Cabrera were charged with 92 counts of theft-related crimes, second-degree criminal possession of stolen property and fourth-degree conspiracy.

The year-long investigation began in February 2025 when the New York City Police Department’s Bronx Auto Crime Unit and the Attorney General’s Organized Crime Task Force identified Silvestre as a broker of stolen cars, officials said…
