Thieves steal 60,000 pounds of walnuts; NY State Police ask for help finding them

New York State Police are asking for the public’s help after thieves made off with approximately 60,000 pounds of shelled walnuts from two commercial trailers in the Bronx.

The theft occurred Monday, March 2, in the Hunts Point area, where palletized boxes of packaged walnuts valued at approximately $50,000 were taken from two 52-foot trailers. The shipment was intended for commercial distribution.

Investigators believe those responsible may attempt to sell the stolen walnuts to third-party vendors, wholesalers or distributors in the New York City area…
