Tracking devices coming to emergency vehicles at NYC airports: Port Authority

NEW YORK (PIX11) — The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will install new tracking devices on emergency vehicles at tri-state area airports in the wake of a deadly collision at LaGuardia Airport.

As first reported by the New York Times and confirmed by Port Authority communications officer James Allen, these devices will now be put into use in an expanded format for all three major airports after being tested at Newark Airport in 2025.

“The Port Authority has made targeted investments in safety technology for its ARFF and other airfield vehicles, including systems designed to track vehicle movements and support operator awareness across the airfield… We will be expanding that capability across our airports, building on the technology already in place,” Allen said.
