Bentonville Battlefield among historic sites with new Sunday hours

RALEIGH — Bentonville Battlefield and other North Carolina historic sites will open to the public on Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. June 14 through Aug. 2 as part of a pilot program expanding weekend access at select locations.

The initiative will offer Sunday hours at 13 of the state’s 27 historic sites, including Reed Gold Mine, Fort Fisher, the State Capitol, Historic Edenton, Historic Halifax, Somerset Place, Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson, Historic Bath, Roanoke Island Festival Park, Aycock Birthplace, Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum and Thomas Day State Historic Site.
