The Downtown Raleigh expansion of a popular group of Wake County diners closed this week after fewer than two years in business.
Tucker Street Diner closed in Downtown Raleigh’s Smoky Hollow development, holding its last service Sunday, July 19. The diner was owned by James and Michelle Park, who also own the Peak City Diner in Apex and The Shiny Diner in Cary.
“(Tucker Street Diner) was something we believed in, but unfortunately the foot traffic wasn’t consistent,” James Park said in a phone interview. “It wasn’t really anyone’s fault. (Property owner) Kane and Smoky Hollow did everything they could for us to help us out, but we just didn’t see a path forward with operating costs and sales where they were. But this allows us to focus on our other two diners.”…
