10,000 without power in Wake County as severe storms move through area

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A handful of major outages in Raleigh have left roughly 10,000 customers without power as of just after 11:55 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Duke Energy’s outage map, the outages are in a concentrated area that spans from south of Interstate 440 near Lassiter Mill Road to just north of Interstate 540 in Wake County. The total count of customers without power has decreased from a peak of around 13,000.

The outages come as a heavy batch of severe storms makes its way east and out of the Triangle region. Those storms have prompted numerous severe thunderstorm warnings and a couple of tornado warnings as well, from approximately 8-9 p.m…
