Severe weather causes death in Wake County, downed trees and power outages across N.C.

Scattered severe storms impacted some communities around North Carolina Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night. The strongest storms caused mostly straight-line wind damage that downed trees and caused spotty power outages.

The storms moved across the state Tuesday, spinning up multiple tornado warnings for different counties. A man in Wake County was killed when a tree fell through his home late Tuesday night, according to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office. Two others were inside when the tree fell but were safe, officials said.
