WCPSS announces changes to how it transports students with disabilities, after complaints

On a recent afternoon, Cosette Harol greeted her two youngest boys at the bus stop in their neighborhood.

“Hey, pal! Did you guys have a good day?” she asked her sons as they hopped off their school bus together.

This is very different from what drop-offs used to look like for her older son, who was previously assigned to special transportation because he has autism. He used to come home in a van driven by a contracted driver.

Except that often, the van didn’t come on time, and sometimes not at all…
