MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 37-year-old North Carolina man landed in jail Saturday afternoon after a marine deputy caught him with undersized spiny lobsters.
Deputy Luis Guiardinu of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the waters near Sunshine Key around 2:14 p.m. on Sept. 12, 2026, when he spotted a group harvesting lobster.
Upon inspection, authorities identified one of the harvesters as Joe Lopez, 37, of Raleigh, North Carolina. Deputy Guiardinu found Lopez in possession of four undersized lobsters…
