Substitute teacher’s conviction for murdering ex-husband upheld by North Carolina Court of Appeals

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A former Wake County substitute teacher’s conviction for murdering her ex-husband in 2021 has been upheld by the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the attorney general’s office said.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, Wendy Sue Wishart was arrested in May 2021 after her ex-husband, 45-year-old Sean Michael Wishart, was shot to death inside a home on Lynnberry Place near Brier Creek.

At the time of the shooting, according to officials, Wendy Wishart was a substitute teacher at the Wake County Public School System.

An investigation determined Wishard invited her ex-husband to her home. During the trial, Wishart’s child testified hearing her ex-husband say her name, which was followed by a loud noise and the sound of him falling down, according to the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office…
