Mock skeletons are everywhere in the weeks leading up to Halloween, but a real one turned up as someone was mowing grass in eastern North Carolina, police say.
The grisly discovery was made just before 9 a.m. Saturday in west Jacksonville, about a 120-mile drive southeast from downtown Raleigh.
“The Jacksonville Police Department responded to the wooded area at the corner of Yopp Road and U.S. 17 in reference to a skeleton being found by a citizen mowing the grass,” police said in an Oct. 3 news release.
“Officers arrived on scene and located a human skeleton. With the assistance of the N.C. State Bureau of Investigations, the scene was processed.”…
