Garner ISD Closed for Week as Illness Spreads

According to a report from Fox 4 news, Garner Independent School District (ISD) in Weatherford, Texas, has made the decision to close for the remainder of the week due to the widespread illness affecting both students and staff members. This closure comes as the school district has reached a threshold regarding the number of sick individuals within the community.

The closure of Garner ISD took effect on Wednesday, January 24 and will continue through Monday, January 29, allowing the district an opportunity to thoroughly sanitize their facilities during this time. In a social media post, the district has requested parents to be mindful of the situation and keep their children at home if they are unwell. Furthermore, parents are advised not to allow their children to return to school until they have been fever-free for a minimum of 24 hours.

It is worth noting that this school closure is not an isolated incident in Texas. In fact, Olney ISD, located approximately 50 miles south of Wichita Falls, also had to close on both Tuesday and Wednesday due to the prevalence of illnesses among its student population.
